DHABEY WALI DAL FRY

Ingredients :

Chana dal soaked in water for an hour – 1 cup
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp
Finely chopped garlic – 3
Finely chopped onions – 1 big
Finely chopped tomatoes – 1 big
Green chilli ginger paste – 1 tbsp
Garam masala – 2 tsps
Jeera – 1 tsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Oil – 1 tsp
Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
Amchur powder – 1 tsp
Coriander powder – 2 tsps
Hing – a pinch
Kasuri methi – 1 tbsp
Finely chopped coriander leaves – for garnishing

Method :

1)     In a pressure cooker add the dal with water and turmeric powder and give 4-5 whistles
2)     Open the cooker once cool and mash the dal a bit (do not mash completely, we need some whole dals)
3)     In a pan take ghee and oil, splutter jeera
4)     Add the finely chopped garlic and sauté till brown
5)     Add the onions and sauté till brown
6)     Add the tomatoes, salt, chilli ginger paste and sauté till mushy
7)     Add chilli powder, garam masala, amchur powder, coriander powder, hing, salt and mix well
8)     Add the kasuri methi and mix well
9)     Add the cooked dal and boil till well blended
10) Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rotis
