AKKI ROTI

This is a kannada breakfast dish, extremely healthy and nice to have with a cup of hot coffee in the morning..

Ingredients :

Rice flour – 1 cup
Salt to taste
Green chillies finely chopped – 3
Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
Jeera – 1 tsp
Finely chopped onions – 2
Fresh grated coconut – 3 tbsp
Oil – for making the roti                   

Method :

1)     In a mixing bowl add all the ingredients except oil and make a smooth loose dough. It should be looser than chapathi dough
2)     Wet a muslin cloth and place it in the platform
3)     Take a cricket size ball, place it in the cloth and pat it slowly with your hand to a nice thin roti
4)     Make 4-5 holes in the sides and in the centre
5)     Keep a tawa on the gas, make it hot and add some oil
6)     Slowly invert the cloth on to a tawa so that the roti falls gets placed on the tawa
7)     Spread oil on the sides, keep the gas sim and cook on both sides making it brown
8)     Serve hot with chutney or pickle or plain curds



Note:

This needs to be had hot as it tends to get hard once it becomes cold
