Ingredients :
rice - 1/2 cups
tur dal - 3 tbsp
salt to taste
pepper - 1/2 tsp
jeera - 1 tsp
for tempering :
coconut oil - 2 tbsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
red chillies - 3
curry leaves - 4-5
hing - 1 tsp
method :
1) wash the rice well and drain the water fully, spread it in a muslink cloth till it dries completely
2) powder this to a coarse powder along with tur dal, pepper and jeera
3) in a cooker, add the coconut oil, splutter mustard seeds
4) add red chillies, hing curry leaves
5)add double the quantity of water to the rice dal powder
6) once the water boils, add the powder, salt and mix well
7) once it boils, close the cooker and keep the flame in sim for 20 mins by which time you would get a whistle
8) serve hot with spicy coconut chutney or sambhar
