METHI SAMBHAR

Ingredients :

Finely chopped Methi leaves – 1 cup
Tur dal – ¾ cup
Tamarind soaked in hot water – 1 lemon size
Salt to taste
Finely chopped tomatoes - 1
Sambhar powder – 2 tbsp
Hing -  1tsp
Curry leaves – 4-5

For tempering :

Oil – 1 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Turmeric powder – 1 tsp

Method :

1)     Cook the tur dal, mash and keep aside
2)     In a pan take oil splutter  mustard seeds and turmeric powder
3)     Add the tomatoes and sauté till half mushy
4)     Add the methi leaves and sauté well
5)     Add the tamarind pulp, hing, salt and boil till the raw smell goes
6)     Add the sambhar powder, simmer for a min
7)     Add the cooked dal and simmer for another 2 mins till well blended
