Ingredients :
brown rice - 1 cup
tur dal - 4 tbsp
fresh grated coconut - 1/2 cup
salt - to taste
For tempering
oil - 2 tbsp
urad dal - 1 tbsp
chana dal - 1 tbsp
red chillies - 4-5
curry leaves - 5-6
Method :
1) Soak the tur dal for 1/2 hour, grind this into a coarse paste without adding water
2) dry grind the brown rice to a coarse powder (coarser than rawa) and soak in 3 cups of hot water for an hour
3) in a pressure cooker, take oil splutter rai, urad dal, chana dal, red chillies and curry leaves
4) once the dals become light brown, add the tur dal paste and saute for 5-10 mins
5) add the grated coconut and saute for few more mins, add salt
6) add the soaked rice with the water, mix well and give 3 whistles
7) once the whistle cools, remove and serve not with sambhar or chutney
