ADA PRADHAMAN

This payasam is made by keralites for Onam. I love this paysam and i generally buy a small quantity from restaurants on onam day but off late, they have stopped giving saying they are already short of it. So the best guess is to learn how to make it and have it. This is similar to Moong dal paysam.

Ingredients :

Pal ada (ready made) – ½ cup
Jaggery – 1 cup
Thin coconut milk – ½ cup
Thick coconut milk – ½ cup
Cardamom powder – 1 tsp
Ghee – 4 tbsps
Cashew nuts – 5-6
Kismis – 2 tbsps
Coconut pieces cut into thin teeth – 3 tbsp

Method :

1)     Soak the ada in hot water for 45 mins, drain and keep aside
2)     In a non stick pan, take 2 tbsp ghee and sauté the soaked ada for 5 mins
3)     Add the jaggery and ½  cup water and melt
4)     Cook it till it becomes thick
5)     Add the thin coconut milk and boil till it becomes more thicker
6)     In a pan take 2 tbsp ghee and roast the cashew nuts, kismis and coconut pieces, keep aside
7)     Add the thick coconut milk and switch off the gas
8)     Garnish with cardamom powder and the roasted nuts





Note : 
you get 2 types of adas, I use the small one, you can even use the big thin ones, but they fill the payasam as they are big in size






you can even use this ada to make pal payasam.
