RICE MODAKS

Ingredients :

Idli rawa – 1 cup
Water – 1 and ¼ cup

To grind to a fine paste :
Tur dal soaked in water for 2 hours – 2 tbsp
Green chillies – 4-5
Curry leaves – 6-7
Hing – ½ tsp
Salt to taste

For tempering :

Oil – 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Urad dal – 1 tsp
Red chillies – 3-4

Method :

1)     In a mixie add all the ingredients to make a paste and grind to a fine paste without adding much water,  keep aside
2)     In a pan take oil, splutter mustard seeds, urad dal, red chillies.
3)     Add water, adjust salt and mix for 2 mins
4)     Add the paste and boil the water
5)     Add the idli rawa and cook like upma till it becomes a thick blended mixture, cool
6)     Once cooled, make small oval balls
7)     Steam it in the idli cooker like idlis
8)     Serve hot with coconut chutney and sambhar
