MASOOR DAL KHICHDI

Ingredients :

Rice - 1 cup
masoor dal - 1 cup
onions sliced - 2
tomatoes chopped - 4
garam masala - 1 tbsp
chilli powder - 2 tsp
salt to taste
garlic chopped fine - 2
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
turmeric powder - 1 tsp
oil - 3 tbsp
ghee - 2 tbsp
coriander leaves chopped for garnishing

Method :

1) In a wide bottom pan add the oil and ghee
2) splutter rai, add turmeric powder
3) saute the sliced onions till brown
4) add the tomatoes and saute till well mashed
5) add salt, chilli powder, garam masala and mix well
6) add the rice and the dal, add 4 cups of water and cook till done
7) garnish with coriander leaves and serve with papad and raita
