Ingredients :
flat beans cut into small strips - 1 cup
tur dal cooked - 1/2 cup
sambhar powder - 1 tbsp
salt to taste
turmeric powder - 1 tsp
to be ground into a paste :
coconut grated - 1/2 cup
jeera - 1 tsp
pepper - 4-5
green chillies - 3
for tempering :
coconut oil - 1 tbsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
hing - 1/2 tsp
Method :
1) in a pan boil the cut beans with turmeric powder and salt till it gets cooked
2) add sambhar powder and mix well for a minute
3) add the ground paste and mix well, adjust salt
4) lastly add the cooked dal, give one boil and switch off the gas
5) give a vaghar with the ingredients for tempering and pour it over the kootu
6) serve hot with fried papad
