Ingredients :
Small onions - 10
Tomatoes chopped roughly - 4
green chillies - 3
ginger - 1"
salt to taste
coconut (optional) - 2 tbsps
coriander leaves - 1/4 cup
chilli powder (optional) - 1 tsp
oil - 1 tbsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
Method :
1) In a pan take oil add urad dal and saute till light pink
2) add the shallots and till it becomes light brown
3) add the tomatoes, ginger and green chillies and saute till the mixture becomes mushy.
4) add the chilli powder, coconut and coriander leaves and put off the gas.
5) grind this mixture in a mixie to a fine paste.
this can be used for idlis, dosas and uthappams
