MY MUM'S OWN SAMBHAR POWDER

Ingredients :

Coriander seeds - 8 cups
red chillies - 8 cups
Tur dal - 1 cup
pepper seeds - 1 cup
methi seeds - 1/2 cup
Chana dal - 1/2 cup
mustard seeds - 4 tbsps
haldi - 4 sticks (sticks are preferred for the colour)
Oil - 2 tsps

Method :
In a kadai take oil and roast red chillies and keep aside.
dry roastchana dal and pepper corns, keep aside
dry roast tur dal, methi seeds, coriander seeds and keep aside.
dry roast broken pieces of haldi and keep aside
Keep all this in the sun for 3-4 hours so that it grinds faster.
Please note that all the above needs to be roasted except the mustard seeds.
Either grind them at home in a mixie or give it to a chakki to make a fine powder.

Tips : this powder can be used for making sambhar or even for veggies like curry powder.
if you intend making smaller quantity, you can reduce the above proportions accordingly.
