KESARI DAL

Ingredients :
Orange masoor dal - 1 cup
onion chopped fine - 1
tomatoes chopped fine - 2 medium
ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
dhanshak masala - 1 tbsp
green chilles chopped fine or slit - 2
jeera - 1 tsp
ghee - 1 tsp
salt - to taste
coriander leaves chopped fine - for garnishing

Method :

1. Soak masoor dal in water for an hour
2. In a cooker take ghee and add jeera
3. as soon as it becomes slightly brown, put the onions and ginger garlic paste and the green chilli
4. saute till brown
5. add the tomatoes and saute till it becomes mashy
6. add salt and the dhanshak masala and saute well.
7. add the soaked dal and give 2 whistles.
8. garnish with coriander leaves.

  1. I tried adding finely chopped spinach after the onion tomato becomes mashy just before adding the dhanshak masala. It turned out very good as well.
