PALAK CHOLE

Ingredients :

Chick peas soaked overnight – 1 cup
Palak finely chopped – 4 cups
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder – 1 tbsp

Whole spices :

Cardamom – 3-4
Cinnamon – 1 stick
Cloves – 4-5
Tomato pureed – 1 big
Oil – 2tbsp

Make a paste of :

Onion – 1
Ginger – 1”
Garlic – 2
Green chillies – 4
Coriander leaves – 5-6 stems

Dry spice powder :

Chilli powder – 1 tsp
Chole masala – 1 tbsp
Dhania powder -  1 tsp
Cumin powder – 1 tsp

Method :

1)     Make a potli of the whole spices and cook along with the chick peas and turmeric powder for 4-5 whistles
2)     Once cooked, keep aside, removing the potli.
3)     In the same pressure pan, add oil, add the onion paste and sauté till it becomes light brown
4)     Add the tomato puree and the spice powders, salt and sauté till oil oozes
5)     Add the palak and sauté till the moisture makes it blended
6)     Lastly add the chick peas and give one more whistle
