Ingredients :
maida - 1 and 1/4 cups
wheat flour - 1/2 cup
salt - to taste
sugar - 1/2 tbsp
water - 1/2 cup
yeast - 1/4 tbsp
oil - 1 tbsp
butter for brushing
Method :
1) warm the water in a microwave and sugar, mix well
2) add the dry yeast mix well and let it stand for 10 mins. it should start frothing
3) in a wide vessel, take both the flours, add salt, oil and the yeast solutions, make a nice dough in the consistency of chapathi dough
4) keep it covered in a warm place for 3 and 1/2 hours, the dough will double
5) punch the air out of the dough and again mix well till it becomes a nice smooth ball
6) roll it into a smooth log and put it into a greased bread pan
7) leave it closed for 45 mins, it will rise again
8) brush butter on the dough and bake in 180 degrees for 35-40 mins till the crust is brown
9) cool in a wire rack and cut into slices
Notes :
U can make garlic bread out of this. after you beat the dough for the second time, you can roll it into a 2 inch thick rectangle, smear a paste of garlic-butter-salt, roll this to a cylinder, seal the sides, keep it in the bread pan for 45 mins and then bake.
you can even smear jam instead of the garlic
