Ingredients :
jeera rice - 1 cup
tur dal - 1/2 cup
tamarind pulp - 1 cup (soak tamarind in hot water for 1/2 hour ans remove the pulp)
salt to taste
turmeric powder - 1 tbsp
ghee - 5-6 tbsps
sambhar powder (optional ) - 2 tsps
mixed froen veggies (peas, carrots, beans) - 1 cup
small onions peeled - 1/4 cup
drumstick cut into 2 inch pieces - 1
To make a powder :
dhania seeds - 2 tsp
urad dal - 2 tsp
chana dal - 2 tsp
methi seeds - 1/2 tsp
fennel seeds - 1/2 tsp
red chillies - 6
cinnamon - 1 inch
cloves - 2-3
pepper - 2-3
fresh grated coconut - 3 tbsp
curry leaves - 6-7
Method :
1) Roast the ingredients for powder except coconut, lastly add coconut and switch off the gas. make a powder
2) steam the small onions and drumsticks (because rest of the veggies are frozen so you dont need to cook them)
3) In a pressure cooker, add the tur dal, turmeric powder and start boiling
4) once half boiled, add the rice.
5) once the rice is half cooked, add the veggies, salt, tamarind pulp, sambhar powder and boil
6) add 2 tbsps ghee and mix well till all the ingredients are cooked and blended well
7) lastly add the ground powder and mix well. switch off the gas (it should be slightly watery as it wil become hard once it is cooled)
8) garnish with curry leaves
9) while serving add ghee
