Method :

The outer covering is the same as for the sweet modak.

For the filling :

You can take a little medu vada dough (in my recipe) and steam it. once steamed, mash it to make into a crumble
In a pan take 1 tbsp of oil, splutter mustard seeds and curry leaves
add the crumble, little salt and saute for 10 mins.

Going forward :

Take a ball of the outer covering dough, pay your fingers of both hands with til oil.
Make a depression in the centre and form a small cup (as like the sweet)
Put 1 small spoon of the filling into the cup.
Just seal the edges as it is (should resemble a leaf or a boat)
Steam the modaks as like the sweet

Eat the sweet and the salt modaks alternatively, it is just yummy!!
