COCONUT CHUTNEY

Ingredients :

Fresh grated coconut - 1 cup
green chillies - 2
salt to taste
tamarind - marble size (optional)
chutney dal (dhalia) - 3 tbsp

For tempering :

Til oil - 1 tbsp
mustard seeds - 1 tsp
urad dal - 1 tsp
curry leaves - 5-6

Method :
add the coconut, chutmey dal, green chilles, tamarind (if added), salt and grind in a mixie with little water
for the tempering add oil in a pan, splutter the mustard seeds
add the urad dal and dry till it becomes slightly brown.
lastly add curry leaves and pour over chutney


I do not like to add tamarind as the colour would not be white. if you think you need a bit of sourness, you can add curd
some people put coraindere leaves, but I dont like to as the smell of coconut would be hidden due to the strong smell of coriander leaves.
